Intel Edison work log

Here you will find a log of things i've been doing with the intel edison

Power Draw

I was not able to find any reliable measurements of power draw with the Edison, so I did some measurements of my own.

All measurements were done with a Fluke 289 Multimeter in Min/Max mode, using a 3.7v 6000mAh Li-Poly battery attached to J2.

Boot

Measurements taken from power on, until login prompt.

  • Max: 231.4mA
  • Avg: 117.2mA
  • Min: 24.8mA

System Idle

Measurement taken for 5 minutes of idle, using rel1-ww42 image, stock, with radios off, sitting at bash prompt.

  • Max: 75.7mA
  • Avg: 50.3mA
  • Min: 50.0mA

Idle, acting as Access Point on 2.4GHz

Measurement taken for 5 minutes of idle, using rel1-ww42 image, stock, at bash prompt, using setup mode (holding button for two seconds). The edison is acting as an access point on 2.4GHz wifi. Bluetooth radio is off.

  • Max: 206.9mA
  • Avg: 102.1mA
  • Min: 98.1mA

Idle, connected to 5GHz Access Point

Measurement taken for 5 minutes of idle, using rel1-ww42 image, stock, at bash prompt, connected to a 5GHz 802.11n access point. Bluetooth radio is off

  • Max: 199.8mA
  • Avg: 54.8mA
  • Min: 50.3mA
